Seventh Generation Midwives Toronto (SGMT) is a group practice of midwives who provide high quality maternity care to pregnant individuals and their families.
Our support area for clients includes the City of Toronto, with a focus on those living downtown, as well as ensuring care for the Indigenous community.
We are with our families through pregnancy, labour and delivery, and the first six weeks post-partum.
In reclaiming and sharing Indigenous teachings, we bring the sentiment surrounding the medicine wheel in supporting our families with a holistic approach that takes into account the spiritual, emotional, mental and physical experiences through their childbearing year.
We have privileges at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and the Toronto Birth Centre.
We are hiring! SGMT is looking for a General Registrant to join our midwifery team here at SGMT. If you're interested, please send your CV and a letter explaining why you want to work with us to officecoordinator@sgmt.ca. For more information, please view our job posting.
The Spirit of Birth - Documentary
Spirit of Birth is a short documentary produced by MAAIINGAN Productions and Frog Girl Films directed by Rebeka Tabobondung that provides an in-depth look into the ways in which Indigenous birth practices are being actively restored through the work of Seventh Generation Midwives and the Toronto Birth Centre. The documentary is full of powerful imagery, illustrating how integral it is for families to connect with Mother Earth when new babies are brought into this physical world in a sacred way.
